Can you keep a secret? The best newsletters are always structured the same way.
Can you keep a secret? The best newsletters are always structured the same way. And they drive crazy amounts of sales. Once you see the pattern, you can’t unsee it.
Newsletters are one of the best ways you can keep your audience engaged and informed, but they can also be a pain to write. Sometimes it feels like nobody wants to read your stuff anyway, so why bother? But the truth is that newsletters are an important part of any business.
They help you build relationships with customers and build a personal brand for you. So clients WANT to buy or hear from you.
If you've never written one before, here is the formula that 99% of successful newsletters follow.
Subject line: This is where we'll tell you what our newsletter is about so that when you check your inbox and see our name in the subject line, you know what it's all about. Keep it 30 characters max so mobile users can read it. Examples - “He did it with 2 hours of work…” or “Last chance on the offer”
Preheader: well-known but yet neglected by > 50% is the preheader. The first 15 words of your mail are usually displayed as email previews. Write a killer opening line to drag people in. Questions work well here!
Text body: This is where we'll share information about what we've been up to lately, give you a look at what's new in our product or company, and/or announce any special events coming up that might be of interest to our readers (like webinars or workshops). Newsletters work excellently to share stories or client case studies.
Call to action (CTA): We always want to leave room for engagement with our readers—whether it's through comments on social media or an email response—so we'll include a CTA at the end of each email that gives people who want more info an easy way to reach us.
These four components might sound obvious, but if you check the newsletters that you read vs those you don’t - you will notice it. Master these super essential parts to stand out in the crowd!
