4 digit income per Newsletter…
Ever wondered how much $ one can make of Newsletters?
I had a tough time monetizing newsletters.
I've been there myself, so I wanted to provide a few tips on how to make money from your newsletter.
Some newsletters make $20k per month and $5k per issue. So let's talk about methods:
Affiliate Marketing. This is the most common form of monetization, and it's also the easiest one to set up. If you have a niche and know great products fitting that niche, check out affiliate programs. Usually, you can sign up instantly, giving you a percentage on every sale. The more people who click through your link and buy something from these sites, the more money you make. You want to look for membership affiliate programs, that pay you for every month a client subscribed. This is truly passive income! This works great if you have < 1000 subscribers.
Sponsoring. As your newsletter thrives, ask companies in your niche if they want to sponsor you. You will add a sponsor banner at the top of your newsletter and advertise subtly. This is less aggressive than affiliate marketing and works great if you have > 1000 subscribers.
Sell your products. If your subscriber list does not stop growing, and you get tons of questions about your niche, it's time to sell your stuff. Whether it is an ebook, online course, or consulting you can sell it directly from within your newsletter. Just include links to buy and/or sign up directly in the email itself! You'll be surprised how easy it is for people to buy these things when they're right there in front of them!
Paid membership. If 1-3 isn’t what you are up for and you enjoy writing, why not get paid for your newsletter from readers? You could try charging for access to certain types of content or exclusive content in your newsletter. Offering something like a "membership" type of system where subscribers pay monthly or annually for access to exclusive content. You can soft sell by asking for voluntary contributions (patreon) or hard sell through membership access only (gumroad).
Yesterday, I mentioned Newsletter Wizard, my secret weapon for crafting Newsletters. Tomorrow, I’ll be introducing it to you, so stay tuned.
